New Moon in Aries 21st March 17:23
Full Moon in Libra 6th April
“If we fail to adapt, we fail to move forward.” – Georges St-Pierre
Sun, Moon, Mercury, Chiron and Jupiter – are all together in Aries, together in the heavens at the moment of New Moon – formidable gods on horse-drawn chariots with fire in their hearts and under their wheels (within first 16 degrees of Aries). Their combined strength spreads forcefulness and intensity from the beginning of this Lunar Moonth and cannot fail to generate strong impulses and innovative opportunities throughout the world. We can personally absorb the energy of determination, courage and strength as we face new experiences and adventures, welcoming the energy with open arms!
The New Moon’s intense Aries energy is re-enforced by the square to Mars in Gemini (Mars rules Aries). Like the opening scenes of a film seen from above that pictures complex groups of warships moving in battle against each other, we don’t yet understand the significance or reasons behind the activity. We don’t even know if this is illusion or reality – and we won’t know until the plot unfolds to a point where we begin to understand what we are seeing! By the end of this Lunar Moonth, we might have more clarity. We may also be breathless from the effects of being surrounded by rapid, confusing communications and suddenly manifesting crisis – but at least the nature of the radical changes we’re facing will be clearer. These are very unusual times! Perhaps current events are being born from unidentifiable spiritual realms or dimensions to help us to create a future suitable for the cosmic purposes we are yet to understand!
The energy of this New Moon in Aries is particularly powerful and provides us all, individually and collectively, with a valuable opportunity for new beginnings. It’s not an exaggeration to suggest that the intense nature of this New Moon chart is so significant that it will be pivotal and critical to the future of Humanity and the Earth. Just the day before before New Moon, the powerful Sun moved into Aries at the beginning of the Earth’s annual journey – the Spring Equinox. This year the two events create a formidable combination, ultra-intense in its effect. Aries, the first sign of the Zodiac, is a Cardinal Fire sign and ruled by Mars, traditionally the God of War and a warrior supreme. Aries energy is pioneering, bold, adventurous, straightforward and revels in risks and challenges. It is red blooded and full of stamina and confidence. Aries initiates dynamic events and projects and is prepared to advance forwards with a clear destination clearly in mind. There is a simplicity, optimism and an innocent belief in success, similar to the attitude of a child seeing something she wants and reaching forward immediately to take it. The dangers that might be involved after she forms her intention and makes her spontaneous move don’t really figure in her decision. Positively, this is joyful, creative and life enhancing energy. Negatively, in adults, it can fuel the engines of conflict and war and lead to explosive and confusing events.
Within the same vibrant Spring sky, Uranus sits together with the North Node and Venus in Taurus, revealing a Truth and clarity that is likely to unfold as unexpected events or sudden clashes of opposing energies, erupt and Mars, inconjunct Pluto and square the New Moon, also creates friction and forces resolution. There’s no escaping the necessity for change! We have also reached the closing degrees of Pluto’s passage through Capricorn. The need for change and transformation of social and political structures has been recognised. So, although Uranus’ energy is tempered by the conjunction with gentle, balancing Venus, it is also conjunct the North Node in Taurus and therefore likely to affect the future. It encourages the discord necessary to stimulate change and revolutionary activity. Saturn, just into Pisces, is trine the South Node in Scorpio and sextile the North Node in Taurus. We are adjusting to the new position of Saturn, the change in energy perhaps being like a prophet who is promoting the installation of more spiritual, humane and compassionate awareness into our new structures for the future, founded, this time round, on ground that has been cleared of corruption.
I feel thankful for Neptune being so close to the New Moon – still in the last degrees of Pisces and yet only five degrees from the New Moon in Aries! (moves into Aries 2025), as it lends spiritual awareness into the New Moon chart. Square Mars, this has often indicated an almost unconscious tendency for Humanity to drift into war scenarios. Negatively, it can create confused communications, misunderstandings, deceits, fears, imagined ‘slights’ and increasing numbers of people misplaced or forced from their homes. Positively, Neptune’s position in the New Moon chart encourages and stimulates innovative and creative ideas, visions and dreams, bringing an elevated connection with the spiritual world and increased instinctive and compassionate connections between us all. The influence of Neptune may help to dissolve aggressive conflict and crisis world-wide.
Pluto will slip into Aquarius two days after this New Moon – and will stay there temporarily until June (finally moving into Aquarius at the end of 2024). Pluto’s influence is likely to be intensified generally during this period as it hovers round the last degrees of Capricorn. Any corruption not yet revealed is likely to be! We are also likely to start to experience the effects of Pluto’s move into a T square with the Nodal Axis – which begins next month and ends in November. This T square is a major event and could lead to spontaneous political and natural global events that might change the world. Historically, during this T square, humanity has been forced to radically transform social structures world-wide. Perhaps, as the Aries driven chariots gallop forward wildly together, something similar might happen again, initiating massive transformative changes in the ways we organise our communities and distribute our resources. We need to prepare ourselves for giant leaps forward in scientific knowledge and technology including medical care and space travel. Our new blueprints for the future will, hopefully, include greater awareness of the needs of the World as a holistic and inter-reliant presence in its position in the Cosmos.
How can we best make use of such epic energy in our personal lives to form intentions and wishes that adequately reflect the intense energy of New Moon in Aries? Here are some suggestions:
Affirmation: The energy of this New Moon in Aries (together with that of the Spring Equinox) is intense, dramatic – and is set against a storm-filled back-drop in colours of purple, red and grey. Sudden streaks of lightning light up the scene! The events on the world’s stage reflect the Cosmic scenery and, at times, it might seem as if life around us is out of control. However, like chariot-riding gods, we approach the turbulent world around us with energy, courage, determination and clear goals in mind! We utilise this super-dynamic Mars energy to strengthen our own warrior qualities and will offer our own contributions of courage, creativity, innovation and strength of purpose to the World around us!
We manifest Creative Positivity! Ho!
