New Moon in Sagittarius 1st December 06:21
Full Moon in Gemini 15th December
In the early hours of the morning on the 1st of December, at 06:21, the Moon conjoins exactly with the Sun in Sagittarius. We may not be able to see this happening but the power of it is unmistakable. At the same moment of this conjunction, a Grand Cross is formed across the zodiac. Anchored from four points, this auspicious formation might be a pattern of ‘hard aspects’ but hard doesn’t always mean difficult to bear. An opposition from the conjoined Sun and Moon across to Jupiter, the ruling planet of this lunation, brings focus to opportunity. Jupiter, retrograde in Gemini, is re-opening a door we might have believed had already closed. Saturn in Pisces opposes the MC in Virgo to complete this pattern. Though this brings choices to be made over leadership and sacrifice, it also offers a wonderful, supportive power to turn creativity into something truly effective. Emotions which have been flowing are contained in Saturn’s vessel and, if we take action, can be poured back into the earth and nourish projects which are ready to flourish.
A Grand Cross pushes for a definitive purpose. This formation ties together the four mutable signs of the zodiac, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces. These are the signs whose energy adapts to stimulus and supports us to flow. This Cross gives us strength and purpose with flexibility. Jupiter in Gemini and the New Sagittarius Moon offer a spark of excitement. A great idea, a brilliant wish. Saturn in Pisces channels an otherworldly blessing, funnelling the creative fuel for this endeavour. The MC in Virgo filters out precisely what is needed to make a success and pins us down to the plans we make now. The energy they are lending is supportive and gives a supple strength to our intentions.
Behind the Grand Cross, there are other forces at work. A fiery Grand Trine between the Moon, Mars, moving slowly and deliberately through Leo, and the North Node in Aries, encourages us to move confidently, to be generous and brave. This energy comes easily but it won’t stick around forever. Don’t take it for granted but use it to breathe that fire into the intentions you set. To act as if those things you are wishing for are already coming true.
Meanwhile, Jupiter and Mercury, both retrograde and in mutual reception, are focusing in seemingly opposing directions as they approach an exact opposition on the 4th of December. However, what may appear to be a stand-off has more in common than we might believe.
Chiron, the wounded healer of the zodiac, rides into this conversation and opens up a flow of communication with new healing potential. Messages of hope arrive not in a bottle but on the back of the centaur. There is an opportunity now to rekindle some important conversations and to reopen old connections with renewed hope.
Recently, we’ve been experiencing a series of oppositional energy between Pluto and Mars. The long push of this transit, drawn out by Mars’ upcoming retrograde, is crackling like an electric fire. Truth, integrity, leadership… It is clear that choices have to be made. But when we frame any of our perspectives on the world by declaring a ‘winner’ we set the narrative that somebody has to lose. Pluto’s move into Aquarius is challenging this within our collective psyche. In this sign, ruled by revolutionary Uranus, Pluto may show us over the long term that another way may truly become possible. One which allows space and peace for everyone.
An unexpected alliance is emerging between Uranus in Taurus and Venus in Capricorn. Uranus’ innovative power is being lent to Venus to curate a tangible outcome with long term potential. This energy is surprisingly sensible and practical. It helps us see realistic options as more appealing than we may have realised. What seemed far off and complicated may yet be much closer than we thought. We are encouraged to get stuck in and get our hands a little dirty. A focus on bringing real results from the intentions we set under this New Moon is being supercharged. Venus helps us to imbue the seeds we are planting with a lasting love and Uranus provides a grow light.
Plans made and journeys begun under this New Moon will be infused with a sense of not being able to rest until the goal has been achieved. This is a New Moon to begin something helpful. To set intentions which are limited only by our own imagination and to commit to sharing wisdom generously, with great kindness. This New Moon is hopeful. It focuses our attention inwards to connect with what we seek from our future and helps us to find a spark of excitement that is worth holding onto.
Meditation
You are a force for good. Deep within you is a reflection of all the goodness of the world. A well of inspiration and love which has no end. You can access this source of energy whenever you wish. You only have to stop and remember it is there. Within you, all the magic of the Moon and the stars, all the joy and the wonder of the world, can be found. You have abundance in your heart. Sometimes you might feel a little tired. You might imagine that the world is a dark place. Remember that you are the light. Every breath you take and release holds incredible power. You being here is a wonderful gift. You are a wonderful gift to the world. Your power and your light is abundant. You are in control of how you choose to shine. Imagine that you have a dial at your fingertips. All around you are tiny, beautiful little glimmers of light. As you turn up your dial you can speed them up or slow them down. You can choose to emit a blinding surge of powerful light or to simply glow like a gentle, steady flicker of candlelight. Your light can be changed but it never goes out. You are a force for good. You have love and abundance at your fingertips.
