New Moon in Virgo – 7th September 01:52 (BST)
Full Moon in Pisces – 21st September
“People fail to slow down and pay attention. People keep driving like it’s a sunshiny day, and it isn’t.”
Larry Starkey
Time to take stock of our ways of thinking and the manner in which we move, think, feel our way through our lives. Time to re-assess. I, Virgo New Moon, mean business. Together with Mars in Virgo and opposite Neptune in Pisces, I hold an airy Grand Trine in my hand – like a trident, ready to tackle the future (North Node-Gemini/Mercury-Libra/Saturn-Aquarius). This is my trident of Hope! Good things are on their way!
Traditionally, I hold energy that is yin – cool and calm, introspective and feminine. I work tirelessly and diligently, creating efficient routines – often behind the scenes – but this New Moon, my energy walks purposefully to the front of the stage. I am dynamic. Altered subtly by Mars, I am ready to make my presence felt. I may even act as a powerful catalyst for transformation (Mars trine Pluto). The Universe will reveal the strength, depth, power and potential of my Virgo talents as part of the shift in energy we need. Maybe Patriarchy has held the world in its antiquated grip for too long. Perhaps it is a vision of Matriarchy that is my gift for Humanity!
Virgo is an Earth sign, Mutable and ruled by Mercury. Virgo is the energy of steady service and care – assisting where good sense and help is needed. Virgo is practical and pays attention to the fine details and tuning of the mechanics that make things work smoothly. It offers the care needed to complete tasks well. It is the mother or father who feels they must keep a measure of objectivity so that family projects can be accomplished most efficiently – any problems encountered dealt with smartly and with care and full attention along the way.
Virgo accompanies harvest time. Traditionally, we assess what we have achieved so far at this point of the year – what has grown and been nurtured into maturity – and what has failed. The New Moon in Virgo is a good time to examine the details of our personal lives too – congratulate ourselves on what we have achieved, the efficiency of our daily routines, our health regimes, the nature of our thoughts – and the finer details that create our homes and environments. We have an opportunity to become more responsible for ourselves, each other and the environment. What might need a Virgo-style reorganisation?
We can examine the details of our lives and use the New Moon energy to help shift our behaviour – if necessary. The astrological landscape within which the New Moon is placed creates powerful opportunities to start new projects, to reorganise, declutter and reboot! Energised by Mars, opposite Neptune and stimulated by the exact trine to speedy, spontaneous Uranus in practical Taurus, the New Moon plugs us into turbo-charged practical energy!
We are open to receiving inspiration from Neptune in Pisces, a source of creative power and vision. We can form intentions and create dreams that reflect the intense energy of this moment. Here are some suggestions for the New Moon in Virgo:
IN A MUNDANE KIND OF WAY
The combination of a diplomatic Libran Mercury – opposite a combustible Aries Chiron and trine both Aquarius Saturn and the Gemini North Node (assisted by Libran Venus trine Jupiter in Aquarius) brings spontaneous and honest communications concerning the difficulties people are currently experiencing throughout the world. Exactly as we would wish efficient governments to be, the Virgo New Moon offers reason, balance, dedication, practicality and gravitas in the art of creating sound structures and being the efficient, caring organiser who takes the needs of all into account.
Perhaps the energy will positively affect a fluid and responsible response to the current plight of the Afghan people and the needs of other refugees forced to leave their homes because of wars throughout the world. Venus in Libra, stands by Mercury, challenged by a square to Pluto (and trine expansive and just Jupiter in Aquarius). The issue of the needs of displaced people will, hopefully, be efficiently and compassionately dealt with. Food distribution is likely to be an issue generally, including in the UK where both Brexit and Covid are affecting the flow of lorry transport.
We may all, unexpectedly, be forced to exercise more co-operation and compromise this month by the urgency to find practical solutions to current emergency crisis. Perhaps the light will begin to become more obvious that all individual behaviour affects other people. There is little room for selfishness or lack of empathy for others during difficult situations. Humanity is one. Neptune in Pisces, opposite the New Moon brings focus to our awareness of and responsibility as part of a collective consciousness. We need to look at the details of how we think about and relate to each other as we go about our everyday routines.
Mars trine Pluto in Capricorn creates an increasing murmur like the sound of powerful static electricity added to by Uranus in Taurus (trine the New Moon) – building and charging the lightning bolt that connects the heavens to the earth. Perhaps we need to be jolted by a lightning strike into individual effort, co-operation and practical involvement in the creation of our own better future! Uranus in Taurus is exactly trine the New Moon. This aspect often accompanies outbreaks of rebellion from all areas of society and the political spectrum as people are inspired to make their views felt.
Within the difficulties that many are experiencing at this time, we all look for leadership to pay attention to details, organisation and structures that will support and nurture us – throughout the globe. Although we may know, astrologically, that the Pluto transit through Capricorn (and associated aspects!) has created a deconstruction of many of the structures we have been used to for some time, hopefully, this New Moon in Virgo will create new opportunities for co-operation and empathy between peoples – and less division. It is important that we remain honest and clear in our communications with each other. The astrology of the moment would suggest the need for more general debate on the subjects that are concerning us such as the pandemic, the movement of refugees, support for those who are in need and, the NHS and the unfolding of Brexit in the UK. (Other countries, no doubt have their own priorities.)
Astrologically, there are indications that new approaches and discoveries could emerge this lunar Month – re the Covid pandemic for instance. We are under the Virgo magnifying glass looking for details, after all. Perhaps the month will also reveal how well this issue – and other significant ones – have been handled so far. There’s a likelihood that individuals will need to account for their integrity over the past eighteen months.
We look forward to Pluto’s final move into Aquarius in 2024. Hopefully, by then, we will have begun to move into an era of balance and empathy, one that reflects the universal love of mankind.
New Moon in Virgo epitomises, amongst other things, the concept of purity. Like inhaling a distilled drop of perfume, we take a deep breath of what beauty might be and, in doing so, catch a glimpse of the future through her eyes.
