New Moon in Libra – 28th September 19:26 (BST)
Full Moon in Aries – 13th October 22:07 (BST)
“A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.” John Lennon (a Libran)
The Universe is full of contradictions and polarities, dark and light, cold and heat. Opposing energies are present within every moment, each molecule, each element and creature in our world – and within every component of the combined astrological energy. Libran energy encompasses this fact and seeks balance and harmony above all else (the symbol is that of old fashioned weighing scales). So the energy also contains a potential for disharmony when negative energy tips the scales off balance. We live through unbalanced times and we seek to heal our wounds in order to retrieve any sense of stillness and peace. Libra represents our potential to live in Love and Harmony in our relationships on the Earth and to achieve a sense of balance in relationship to the environment.
Libra is a masculine Air Sign, Cardinal in nature and ruled by Venus, the goddess of Love. Cardinal energy ‘gets on’ with new initiatives! Libra strives to gain peace, harmony, justice and equality by starting new ideas and projects. He represents the Universe’s constant search for balance and beauty. The presence of such a strong New Super-Moon in Libra is an opportunity to find a centre of calm within ourselves. The element of Air represents cerebral energy, thinking and new ideas. The presence of Venus energy aspires towards achieving all-encompassing Love in relationship to everyone and everything around us.
The image is of a young student, combining both masculinity and femininity – in love with love, colour, music and surrounded by beautiful things – and full of dreams of achieving a perfect relationship and an ideal, peaceful future. Libran energy is behind all dreams of a vision of utopian place of justice, fairness, balance and loveliness for the future of humanity! He is intense and romantic in his approach to life and, like a beautiful and charismatic poet, he spouts concepts and ideas and discusses his idealistic theories with anyone who will listen when he graces us with his presence. It’s time to listen! Disharmony, crass behaviour, vulgarity and ugliness have no place in Libra’s world – and no place in ours if things are ever going to change for the better. We can’t afford to accept them any longer. Humanity and the Earth are out of balance.
This Super New Moon is particularly close to the Earth and therefore very powerful. Here’s a huge opportunity to start acknowledging our wounds and to heal them. Each one of us is affected by the cacophony of contradictory energies around us. On 28th September, the New Moon sits at the beginning of Cardinal Libra directly opposite Chiron at 3 degrees of Cardinal Aries. Chiron is ‘the wounded healer’ – and holds the energy of both victims, the injustice of dominant energy exerting negative energy on another – and the potential to heal it. Astrological energy is at its strongest when at the beginning of a sign. We need to work extra-hard this month in order to achieve our own sense of equilibrium and, from this point, to spread a sense of strength, balance and peace, to others.
On 23rd September, the Autumn Equinox marked the beginning of the gradual lengthening of night time in this hemisphere. The energy of the Sun began its withdrawal and the thoughtful and contemplative time of Yin (feminine – as opposed to the Yang of Summer) began. It’s a good time to tune in to Libran energy before the Lunar Month begins as he enables us to focus on our need for balance and harmony. Here are some ideas to consider as we prepare our intentions and aspirations for the approaching month:
IN A MUNDANE KIND OF WAY:
Saturn, conjunct Pluto (7 degrees), has recently moved direct. Saturn will be exactly conjunct the South Node at the New Moon. Decisive restructuring and positive action on the World Stage is the most optimistic consequence of this! Violent breaking down of governments and social structures is the glass ‘half empty’ scenario! We are far more aware of the desperate victimisation of various groups of people throughout the world (New Moon opposite Chiron). With Mercury and Venus in Libra at the time of the New Moon and Mars about to enter Libra also, we seek peace – our delicate egos are more consciously studying the finer details of what makes us who and what we are. We observe the motivations of those who govern us more clearly too. Many people are processing and questioning what they see – whilst many others are refusing to see or understand how negative motivations have bad consequences for everyone on Earth.
A shift in behaviour is necessary and is imminent as we more frequently question the decisions of world leaders. The conjunction of Pluto, Saturn and the South Node still hangs on in Capricorn – while the North Node (the future) is firmly within the more caring, security-conscious energy of Cancer. The North Node trines Neptune in Pisces and squares Venus. Humanity is super inspired to seek out truth, harmony and ways of changing structures for the better. Pluto and Saturn, opposite the North Node and both square the Venus – create an intense, Cardinal T square that fills the heavens and looks towards Chiron (opposite the New Moon) to HEAL. Listen to the crescendo of loud noise within the Universe!
There will be more ‘stand-offs’ and rash attempts towards material and verbal dominance within the next few months but I optimistically believe that the contradictory factions have to reach a massive crisis before it becomes critical enough and the threat to us all so obvious that changes have to occur. The hypocrisy, blustering and absurdity of the behaviour of many of those in charge is unlikely be able to maintain itself. Surely good sense has to make a come back and balance will inevitably, eventually resume.
NB: Who will the ‘leaders’ of the World Stage be this time next year, I wonder, after the conjunction of Pluto and Saturn in early January 2020 starts a major new astrological cycle?
As above, so below. We yearn for peace and calm both within and outside of ourselves. Our work for the next Lunar Month is to begin to heal our own wounds so that our self confidence and self worth is strong enough to help the wounded world in which we live. The New Moon in Libra gives us hope in a vision of Beauty and Harmony for the future as we allow the energy in. We can ‘begin the dream’ by planting positive, optimistic seeds this month in the hope that we can, together, spread the energy of Love into the world.
We seek Equality and Balance.
Let the healing begin!
“We’ve got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can’t just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it’s going to get on by itself. You’ve got to keep watering it. You’ve got to really look after it and nurture it.” John Lennon
