New Moon in Aquarius 1st February 05:46 (GMT)
Full Moon in Leo – 16th February
“For I dipped into the future, far as human eye could see, saw the vision of the world and the wonder it would be,” Tennyson
We will contribute the sound of our unique instruments to the combined music of the world. The Cosmic conductor stands astride the Earth with his baton pointed towards the stars. He taps on the stand in front of him. There is a profound hush and a pause before, tentatively, the orchestra starts to play:
The world takes stock of Reality and Truth as the New Year gets underway, changes gear and accelerates into the future. No lie will stay hidden and no Truth will be denied their day of recognition as deceptions and corruption continue to be uncovered. This seems to be the Cosmic Plan for the approaching lunar month! This New Moon is the start of a Grand Spring Cleaning as the World emerges from confusion into clearer consciousness.
Venus turned direct on 29th January and Uranus had already done so on the 18th. The New Moon occurs on the 1st February in Aquarius – a beautiful sliver of incandescent light will seed the new lunar month and will wax over the next days, full of wishes and promises. Venus is conjunct Mars in Capricorn, trine Uranus – and not far away (also in Capricorn) is Mercury, conjunct Pluto and trine the North Node in Taurus. As Mercury moves direct on 4th February, she will wave her magic wand and sprinkle some cosmic communication dust on the position that the Moon/Sun was in on the 1st. From 4th February until 29th April, all the planets in our Universe will be gloriously moving forwards together! Here on Earth, we will experience a jolt forwards and the intentions made both at the beginning of the year and at this New Moon will vigorously begin to take root and to manifest throughout the approaching lunar month.
Like a breath of fresh Air and creating balance to the four planets in intense, powerful and earthy Capricorn, the New Moon – conjunct Saturn in Aquarius – offers us an increased awareness of our own potential and encourages our need to regain a sense of freedom. We may become acutely aware of restrictions and an urge to break out of them. A fixed sign, ruled by Uranus (and square Uranus at New Moon), Aquarius opens us to higher perspectives and encourages higher consciousness. Aquarius connects us with the Universe and creates connections between it and the Earth we inhabit. We will become more aware of the collective needs of humanity. Aquarius opens the door to technological advances and humanitarian practices, astrology and other ‘alternative’ bodies of knowledge. This New Moon, within its unique astrological landscape, encourages us to wake up, to speak our truth and to open our mind to new possibilities as we look towards the future.
We are likely to feel disturbed and agitated as our bodies, emotions and minds adjust to new circumstances that are happening both outside and inside of ourselves. We might feel exhausted as these adjustments become daily occurrences! Conjunct Saturn, the New Moon reminds us of our need to face reality. Square Uranus in Taurus (and the MC of the UK chart in Scorpio) we are conscious that the energy of rebellion surrounds us and the importance of focussing on the needs of ‘one world’ may well be now. Mars/Venus is sextile Jupiter. There could be confrontations, verbally and physically, for rights involving equality, beliefs and truth. Financial and sexual scandals are likely to come rapidly and blatantly out into the open where they must be faced, digested and dealt with.
The world of science is observing unusual magnetic activity, increased solar activity – and the Nodes have completed their shift into Taurus/Scorpio (from Gem/Sag). We might feel intense bouts of emotion. Perhaps we are processing our own present and past realities as they manifest to confront us. Neptune in Pisces makes us vulnerable on a subconscious level as we shift into an awareness that causes us to function from our heart centres as opposed to our heads. The North Node trine Pluto/Mercury conjunction could allow us to be open to new technological ideas, the expansion of spiritual/cosmic knowledge (the discovery of new life forms?). Neptune, (at 21 degrees of Pisces/un-aspected) and Jupiter, now only 14 degrees away (Pisces, applying), will become conjunct on 12th April.
What magic from the Universe might manifest between the New Moon in Aquarius on 1st February and 12th April? I imagine we could discover valuable and surprising hidden gems of knowledge during this period, the revelations and inventions sparkling away ready to be found within a higgledy-piggledy bag of unpredictable frogs! In my opinion, far from embarking on a period of time involving ultimate horror and confusion, we might experience catalysts of change and signs that lead to delightful gifts from the Land of Optimism, heralded and communicated fiercely by genius agents of change! I believe that, ultimately these times will be looked back on as the time when, although the world was experiencing a bumpy ride, it started to turn on its axis in a freer, smoother and more conscious way.
It’s difficult to move forward without acknowledging what we are leaving behind and what we thought of as ‘normal’ for a very long time. Recent events have made many people think about the true nature of the ‘normality’ we knew before the pandemic. We are now considering the possibility that perhaps our concept of ‘reality’ needs to shift as it was based on out-dated ideas that had, in some ways, become dysfunctional. We are reconsidering the values and belief systems on which our routines have been based. The New Moon in Aquarius encourages us to create plans for new structures before the energetic Spring Equinox in Aries occurs on 20th March – and research projects are underway that could ultimately create positive changes for all of us. A quietly dynamic and intense crescendo of change is starting and is steadily gaining in volume and speed. Listen and hold onto your seats!
Like snakes shedding skins, many people are becoming more confident about the prospect of changes and what that might mean on personal levels. Here are some suggestions for focus as we form our intentions and dreams at this New Moon. The questions may need time and meditative contemplation:
How do you define your own reality and the values that underline it? Do you need to make adjustments?
What is truly valuable to you in your own life and in the wider world?
What truths about yourself would you like to manifest into the world that haven’t yet been realised?
Tuning into your heart energy and with an awareness of expanding possibilities, what do you believe is being asked of you?
Venus conjunct Mars on the Ascendant of the UK chart squares Chiron in Aries and highlights the need to consider how the UK is seen at this time and how it perceives the world around it. There is still very strong resistance within powerful old structures and the astrology suggests there could be surprising and erratic movements within both traditional power structures and the Earth herself, particularly involving water (Jupiter sextile Mars/Venus). High pressure of any kind always finds an outlet! Food and money supplies are likely to be disrupted too. Together with other aspects in the New Moon chart, the picture suggests continued confusing and pedantic communications on many issues. The journey will remain bumpy for a while yet so we need to expect more disruption before calm is reached and balance is restored!
Affirmation: The New Moon is a unique chance for another powerful new beginning. As we learn the importance of taking responsibility for our own and others’ well-being, we open to the energy of the New Moon in Aquarius. We connect with each other and are ready to receive the energies of the heavenly bodies surrounding us in the universe. We look to the stars with our feet firmly planted on Earth and trust in the changes that are taking place.
