New Moon in Taurus 11th May 20:00 (BST)
Full Moon in Sagittarius 26th May
“In a society that profits from your self doubt, loving yourself is a rebellious act.” Anonymous
Energetic manifestations of our hearts’ desires grow tentatively, like newly germinated green plants, towards the Sun. The energy of the New Moon encourages us to regenerate and recreate our life journeys and to appreciate the value of our individuality and the love of the family that surrounds us. At this time of New Moon, we look towards the sky with our feet firmly planted in the fertile earth – searching for Truth – and looking towards a future based on shared resources and taking care of the Earth and the family of Humanity. We speak our beliefs with confidence and nurture the seeds of new and practical concepts for the future. We are part of our tribe of unique, two-legged Earth Dwellers. We seek an expanded awareness of love with optimism and determination.
The New Moon joins Uranus in Taurus and starts to renew our trust and hope in the future. Taurus is an Earth sign, ruled by Venus and Fixed in quality (symbolised by a bull). Dependable, loving, grounded and practical, she embraces the natural world and her family. She cares and believes in the importance of the cohesive herd – and in sound, simple and practical values. She will not move from her position unless she is convinced that she can safely and sensibly do so. Taurus is sensual in an earthy, grassy kind of way, representing Love and our closest connection to nature. She is warm and embracing, desiring only that every one of her family is loved, safe, fed and watered. Our senses are heightened by the presence of her energy and by her connection with the earth, the four leggeds, the winged creatures, the sea-dwellers – and with all growing things.
Uranus, at the time of New Moon, is only 10 degrees away. On the surface, the two energies might appear to be at odds with each other – fiery, rebellious Uranus who rules Aquarius and all things untraditional, new age and forward thinking – and solid, sensual, earthy and dependable Taurus (usually presenting a more cautious New Moon). However, the liaison might be exactly what we need at this moment – change, new ideas, technology – and some rebellion – delivered with love, practicality, some stubbornness – and caution. The Universe encourages us to form our wishes and intentions this month, in the combination of the energies. Pluto (in Capricorn) is exactly trine the New Moon. The soil-scented call for a grounded and earthier approach towards structural deconstruction and reconstruction is a timely one.
Many of us have gained insights into ourselves and others’ behaviour during the past months as we’ve been forced to view the world from an altered perspective. As always, it’s important to think carefully about how we can best use the energy of our monthly opportunity to make a new start in our personal lives in a way that can contribute constructively towards Humanity’s ongoing story. The New Moon in Taurus approaches and asks us to make practical use of our individuality in reflection of the energy:
IN A MUNDANE KIND OF WAY
At the time of New Moon on 11th May, five planets are in Fixed signs – Saturn and Jupiter being in Aquarius (13 and 29 degrees respectively) and the Moon, Sun and Uranus in Taurus. This is a time we can make efforts to understand, consolidate and bring closure to some of the tensions and crisis that have happened over the last year and the changes we have experienced. Saturn is square Uranus (the energy lending him both gravitas and attempting to hold him back), producing strong possibilities that the Earth’s internal pressures may be reaching levels that could lead to sudden shifts such as earthquakes and volcanic activity. The same internal and external pressure might be reflected in events occurring in the wider political world.
We start this Lunar month with an up-change in gear regarding the energy of transformation! In many ways, we may experience ‘the astrological weather’ around us as if we are waking after a long sleep. The New Moon is trine Pluto. “Wake-up! Time for activity and change. Let’s get going!” We are likely to emerge into an increased awareness of our own power and the reality of our ability to contribute to change. The energy encourages a tendency towards constructive and peaceful rebellion that supports the expression of our basic needs and values. The world might re-familiarise itself with the old phrase ‘Power to the people’ this Lunar month and we could be surprised at the forcefulness and magnitude of voiced opinions.
Venus, the North Node and Mercury are conjunct in Gemini at the time of the New Moon. Mercury trine Saturn encourages us to ‘get our houses in order’ and to communicate our opinions clearly and with structure. However, communications between the world’s financial structures could become volatile. Food supplies are likely to be seriously interrupted at any time soon as ‘flow’ generally becomes difficult. Taurean energy is about realistic, practical interchange. It is unrealistic for the ‘western world’ to imagine, with the current tentative hold on the spread of the virus – and on major new arrangements (such as Brexit in the UK), that life will be ‘returning to normal’ any time soon. The virus continues to spread ferociously in other parts of the world and, as we are One World, with each component reliant in some way on the others, we need to work in practical ways to achieve the care of the whole world family and the Earth herself.
Feelings are at crisis levels of tension as the realisation begins to dawn that we face a challenge to move forward, consciously and definitively, together. The transformational energy will inevitably continue forwards – but it may start to express in sudden, intense ways. Jupiter enters Pisces on 13th May, joining Neptune (sextile the NM) and bringing with it an inevitability of fierce water movement, huge swells of emotions – and the possibility of an escalation of spiritual awareness.
This New Moon has the capacity and potential to instigate the development of fresh mind sets that will lead to creative projects (that include an increased sense of caring and compassion) that encompass Humanity more as a whole – and the Earth on which we live – with more awareness. Our core values are in a process of change and, hopefully, we move towards a more empathetic world as we re-create our future.
We have been changed by the recent ‘glitch in our matrix’ caused by the pandemic. Many now understand that we must become an active part of the transformation process from the old ‘normal’ towards the new paradigm. We continue the process of creating new – and rearranging old – routines and beliefs. As individuals we are beginning to understand that this time presents a period of significantly, hard work. We move forwards – with practicality – and more awareness of the ‘broader picture’ – towards a better future as the New Moon in Taurus presents herself.
The future will be what we create in the present ….
