At this point in time, do we, as inhabitants of this planet, need to pay urgent attention to the fact that we each have individual responsibility towards Humanity and the Earth we live on?
Yes. I think we do. Do we need an injection of practical good sense? Here it comes. The New Moon in Virgo on 9th September lends us the kind of energy that will remind us to show some responsibility to the service of humanity as a whole. We ask her to please give us the benefit of her doubts concerning our intentions towards each other and our beautiful Earth. We need her help at this time to prepare ourselves for an uncertain and turbulent future. An energy of wild confusion seems to rampage throughout the world. We need her help to find a sense of control, to help us to re-think, clarify and reorganise our priorities. “Stop!” she says quietly, “Calm down, take some deep breaths and think carefully about what you need to do. You have things to sort out.
Virgo is a feminine Earth sign. Her mutable energy encourages us to stay grounded while having the ability to adjust to situations, to ‘go with the flow’ and to find our way downstream with a sense of responsibility, whatever obstacles might surprise us in the river of events. Her strengths are her stability and her ability to see the details needed to organise in the most practical ways. Virgo is ruled by Mercury and it so happens that he also sits in Virgo as the New Moon begins the new lunar cycle. Perhaps he will help her to give us the ‘talking to’ that we need and to focus our thoughts on the practicalities needed ahead.
Her image is that of a mother who is practical, organised and believes in the importance of regular daily routines. She values any opportunity to be of service to others. She is neat, capable and organised – hair tidy, clothes ironed, routines meticulously in place. She speaks clearly, thoughtfully and quietly. She is reliable and can juggle several tasks at the same time. Although she may worry until each task is completed, she is satisfied when she gets things done on time and to the best of her ability. She multi-tasks, motivated by dogged determination, organisation and a sense of service to others. She attends to the details – the fine points. She does her work quietly ‘behind the scenes’, without bluster or grandiose proclamations. Oh yes – we need her help this month.
We need to pay attention to this opportunity to refine our lives, to declutter and reorganise – and to submit our plans, our needs and our intentions to her before the moon cycle begins in a clear and detailed way. In two weeks’ time, this cycle will bloom into a full on Aries Full Moon. All the plans we meticulously make at the beginning of the month will manifest in speedy action by the end of it. There will be no time or space for anything other than what has emerged from our focus now. We have an urgent need for order. Start making your neat, thorough and orderly lists NOW! Everything needs to be in place. You can’t go out and play again before you do!

- What can you realistically aim to instigate and achieve in order to contribute towards your aims?
- How can you assist the environment around you and in the wider world to be more ‘healthy’ and abundant? (growing vegetables, recycling, saving energy, using less plastic, collecting waste, campaigning etc).
- This is an opportunity to ‘Dream Big Dreams’ (Neptune trine Jupiter). What are yours?

IN A MUNDANE KIND OF WAY
Big Dreams about possibilities for positive change will abound – with every chance that they will result in practical manifestation! There is a focus of planets in Earth signs. Not only is Mercury conjunct the New Moon in Virgo but he is also in a strong Earthy Trine with Saturn in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus. New, unusual and revolutionary re-structuring throughout the world has a good chance of success. This trine is associated with huge dreams that have been manifested in the past. So new and radical ideas may suddenly appear, voiced by strong, inspired and creative people. These could be new ideas that change our social and physical environments for the better and, (particularly with the influence of the Neptune/Jupiter trine) the philosophy and ethics of Humanity for ever. Please.
The New Moon is certainly likely to spark possibilities of changes (including the inevitable clashes) that could affect all government regimes everywhere – particularly those whose natal charts (or those of their leaders) are significantly affected by the astrology of this moment. The New Moon occurs conjunct natal Jupiter and in opposition to natal Mars (also conjunct Neptune) in the chart of Theresa May, British Prime Minister. This may spark a critical need to be seen to act decisively – but with accompanied confusion as to what exactly that decision should be. The New Moon occurs square the Sun/North Node/Uranus stellium in Donald Trump’s chart – perhaps a challenge and opportunity for him to identify himself in the most capable and practical way. He also has a challenging aspect to the transiting Pluto indicating the possibility of sudden, transformative change and the breaking down of old ‘isms’ and structures within his life.
Things will change – and resistance is always inevitable. Mars and Pluto, also in Capricorn, suggest anger, explosions and attempts to force issues. (Grand Cross with Mars, Uranus, North Node, Venus). The resolution of events may be about to speed up (Mars square Uranus and just gone direct). So, having sometimes perhaps felt that world events – confused for months –might go on that way for ever, could we be about to experience long awaited resolutions in the many stand-offs that seem to have been around for far too long? There is likely to be a continuation of the stream of natural disasters as the Earth herself contributes her voice to the atmosphere of confusion.
Change? Resolution? Resulting in good sense prevailing?
We are all responsible for our future! We can all contribute our individual ideas. Many of the issues that have concerned us – and some indeed that we weren’t even aware of up until now – may at last reach an apex of crisis from which action, reorganisation, compromise and practical solutions may have to emerge. What a relief! At last, no personal planet is going ‘backwards’ (retrograde) for a while. We can get on with positively reorganising the details of our own existences – as can those who conduct the political affairs of the planet – and we have a unique opportunity to contribute all we can towards improving life for everyone. Service to others!
