Last Christmas post: FRIDAY 20th DECEMBER
New Moon in Gemini – 3rd June 11:01 (BST)
Full Moon in Sagittarius – 17th June 09:30
“Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something.” – Plato
The processes and processions of change are imminent and inevitable. They lumber towards us in ornate and ancient caravans from different directions, their colourful banners waving – pulled by ponderous elephants. They come to state their views to the others who approach the central oasis. They are firm in their dogma and determined to speak. They will defend their own concepts of structure and they expect inevitable conflict. Emissaries walk before them, mumbling their visions and dreams for the future as they move closer together. We wait for the outcome to unravel.
The Gemini New Moon on the 3rd June begins a Lunar Cycle that contains the Full Moon in Sagittarius on the 17th and the Summer Solstice on the 21st when the Sun, at the first degree of Cancer, is at his highest in our sky and energy is at its most potent. This is discussion time. We need to speak our truths and listen to others. We may have to examine and perhaps adjust our beliefs. It’s an intense month. Gemini is Masculine, Air and Mutable, ruled by Mercury. Anything could happen.
The image is of a lithe and spirited man of indeterminable age. He is a traveller, communicator, joker, dancer, story teller – always moving, talking and seemingly never focussing for more than a second or two on one subject before flitting, like a butterfly, to the next. He interacts skilfully and adapts to every situation before moving on. Don’t be fooled. That quickness, lightness, airiness, those sudden movements and the fluent, never-pausing-for-a-moment verbalising might only communicate what he chooses to tell you. Inside him, there’s a wealth of wisdom that he is willing to share if you are willing to listen – knowledge gleaned from exploration and experience. At the point of New Moon, Mercury is also in his own sign of Gemini. The darker side of this astrological landscape is that, beneath the soft breezes of Gemini air, we might have to sidestep patches of old verbal diarrhoea that have become irrelevant to the present situation. Rhetoric – empty, messy or otherwise – abounds.
In our personal lives, here’s an opportunity to share theories, explore beliefs and to make contact with each other from the deepest and highest parts of ourselves – to get beneath the superficial. It’s time to discuss, brainstorm with anyone we can learn from, read, research and to discover more about ourselves, each other and the world about us. There’s a chance to explore deeper, meaningful mercurial interactions. There’s fun, freedom and joy to be found this month within social circles and gatherings, hopefully blessed with sunshine. There are inspirational ideas to moot with friends, to manifest and perhaps to set free to fly into the world. The planetary aspects beaming towards us from the Universe accentuate the importance to be free to communicate in every way we can – with others and with our inner selves.
Here are some ideas that may help us formulate our dreams, wishes and intentions for the approaching Lunar Month:
Suggested Meditation:
Sitting with a candle, look into the flame and allow the energy of Gemini, to reach you from Universal Light. Clear your mind, raise your consciousness up and outwards and allow spontaneous thoughts and visions permission to fill the space within and around you. Your intention is to open to wisdom and inspiration. Visualise ideas and visions coming towards you on a gentle breeze. Note colours, scents, emotions, sounds and images.
IN A MUNDANE KIND OF WAY
With the New Moon opposing Jupiter, both square Neptune, Mars conjunct the North Node in Cancer and opposite Saturn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn, those caravans from the procession now stand confrontationally in the spotlight together. The polarisation of beliefs has built up pent up emotions that are now at the point of explosion. This month, the motivations and morality of those who govern us move into the spotlight and cause many of us all to examine their (and our own) fundamental behaviour and beliefs. What are the foundations of our lives built on? We seek truth and clarity. Whatever our political stances, many of us are more aware of the various dogma and structures that cause problems throughout the world – and how much these often-outdated paradigms are often motivated by greed, arrogance and a dubious sense of superiority. Venus and Uranus both sit in Taurus, urging harmony and balance within our communications (Venus trine Pluto/Saturn/South Node). There is an underlying movement of change that comes from an awareness of the need for fairness and truth. The wheels have been turning, breaking down the constructs of the past and recent events have proved that changes in our ethical and moral behaviour – and our treatment of each other – involve all of us. The urgent necessity for truthful, grounded discussion and negotiation is all around us. Neptune in Pisces trine Mars in Cancer (conjunct NN) injects an awareness of spirituality and the need for action. New, speedy ideas and innovations can be instigated that will make positive changes if the will is there to do it.
Confrontations could still become explosive this Lunar Month. The Brexit ‘situation’ in Britain has become even more farcical, the government is fragmented and there are still no obvious prospects of solution. The recent European elections also reflect the polarisation of political views that has spread throughout the world. In America, as in the UK, retro attitudes to issues – such as the equality of women, our rights to make decisions about our own bodies, sexual orientation and the movement of deprived refugees forced into their situation by war – seem to have taken several steps backwards in social history in regards to social awareness – and the ‘status quo’ holds on to its dogma. The reactions throughout the world towards climate change are far too slow and ponderous. Hopefully, the Gemini New Moon will shake up the process.
It is up to every single one of us to communicate how we feel and to make sure our views are heard. Poisonous boils are at the point of bursting and will cause inevitable mess – followed, optimistically, by ‘clean up’ and healing – after which a new beginnings can start. New brooms sweep clean – as, hopefully, will our inevitable, long awaited new leaders! It’s important that we all speak our truths and get involved in working towards creating a ‘new order’ – complete with leaders fit for purpose! I believe that this Gemini New Moon Cycle could result in more rational communications between conflicting factions that will ultimately contribute to creating the space and energy necessary to plan for a better world for everyone.
While governments struggle to reach a higher levels of understanding and organisation (perhaps unconsciously!), we can hopefully use this energy to do the same. This is an opportunity to increase our self-knowledge and by examining the validity of the beliefs from which we function. How can we adjust them and raise our own consciousness to higher levels? An increased awareness of the implications and possible consequences of our choices day to day – is becoming more necessary. No pressure then as this New Moon approaches!
There is intense energy all around us within which we plan for the future. Burst those boils! And let’s emerge from this Gemini Lunar Cycle armed with facts, clarity, determination and truth!
