New Moon in Taurus 30th April 21:28 (BST)
Full Moon in Scorpio 16th May
“Together, we can make the world a better place. One smile, one kind word, one small act at a time.”

By taking the opportunity to bravely step out of our comfort zones at this time of New Moon/Solar Eclipse, we’re able to leap forwards on our journey by aligning with the energy and instigating changes in positive and practical ways. The intensity of the New Moon/Solar Eclipse, conjunct Uranus and close to the North Node also in Taurus, empowers us to take decisions and risks that could change our future paths and those of others, forever. After the events of the last few years, ‘normality’ has been disrupted to the extent that many of us now find ourselves seeking to re-create lifestyles that more closely reflect our needs and wishes. Many of us are making our first steps towards creating paradigms within which we can live in more centred, grounded ways – within a reality that promises to be safer and more reflective of our connection with the Earth. No one ever said that great transformation would be easy.
Taurus is a fixed earth sign, ruled by Venus. Like a bovine animal grazing contentedly in a lush field of grass, fully aware of who and where she is and what her daily routines are, we seek to find what we truly need to live in harmony with each other and the Earth. Standing firmly in Taurus, the New Moon encourages us to initiate new pathways that could lead to greater personal fulfilment. Mercury, just into Gemini, encourages us all to speak (and to think through) our truths with clarity. Venus, ruler of Taurus, is conjunct Jupiter as the new lunar cycle begins (at 28 degrees) and Neptune in Pisces is also conjunct (3 degrees). Venus emanates love, balance and justice, particularly in her exalted position in Pisces. The three planets are rarely together. It’s an unusual event and intensifies the energy even further, encouraging us to create big, beautiful and imaginative ideas for the future and to visualise our lives changing for the better. It’s a magical stellium. Mars, also in Pisces, and sextile the New Moon, prompts us into decisive actions towards fulfilling our visions.
Almost opposite the New Moon (12 degrees), is the South Node in Scorpio – also trine the Jupiter/Venus conjunction in Pisces and square Saturn in Aquarius! For now, un-Truths and deceptions continue to bubble to the surface to be seen and not forgotten. Through this lunar cycle, we are reminded of the worst – and best – of the past. Hopefully, we will leave the worst behind. The Nodal Axis (Taurus/Sag) forms a T square with Saturn, lending gravitas to the importance of decisions made at this time and make us aware of the potential effects they will have on the future.
Meanwhile, Pluto in Capricorn is sextile to the Jupiter/Neptune/Venus conjunction in Pisces. We are seeing clearly exactly how ‘the powerful’ have been using their power and the consequences of the decisions made. Life changing events continue to evolve and there are struggles within traditional power structures that affect us all. Within a world atmosphere of war, refugees and flooding, the flow of money and oil is also disrupted. There is concern about the approaching winter as we observe how fuel prices and political decisions will affect the cost of living and, inevitably, traffic flow. Consequently, decisions made by governments seem to shake perceptions of wider, traditional spiritual and political beliefs. Past perceptions of past events shift and as inflation rises and anxiety builds, we are forced to shift gear on all levels.
At this time of New Moon/Solar Eclipse, we particularly need to plan carefully and to look forward towards the future with integrity, confidence, positivity and self-love, keeping our clear goals in mind. The influence of Solar Eclipses affects us all up to a month before and after they occur. This is a powerful and pivotal moment in time on personal and global levels.
The current astrological picture is not only external but also internal. If we don’t remain open to major shifts and necessary adjustments, we could miss this particular ‘boat of opportunity’. Intentions and wishes we form at this New Moon are vitally important to our future. We must choose wisely. Here are some suggestions to help create our best use of the energy at this New Moon in Taurus.
Suggested meditation:
Take deep breaths, breath the energy of Love into your heart chakra. Visualise golden light filling your heart space, then spreading into your whole body and, after a few moments, allow it to spread outwards into the world, After a while, visualise yourself emerging with this Universal light. Allow yourself to experience complete trust in this process in the certain belief that the Universe ultimately wants to create what is best for you, all of Humanity and the Earth itself. Resolve to become ‘at one’, in trust of this process. We manifest Love, Trust, Creativity and Abundance.
Affirmation:
I welcome all potential revelations, realisations and new ideas!
We are experiencing a bombardment of unique energy that gives us an opportunity to expand our awareness. At times, this may seem to be overwhelming and we might subconsciously, or consciously, ‘block’ this transforming energy, experiencing it instead as ‘overload’. There is a lot of cosmic activity and some might feel confused, paranoid or fearful. We may experience wild dreams. Some may feel angry and blame their feelings on the behaviour of others. At those times, I intend to take ‘time out’ to rest, sleep, read, walk in nature and be kind to myself. There is, in front of us, a passageway towards a potentially wonderful future – full of beauty and positive change. Believe it and trust it!
Pluto is in the last degrees of Capricorn and, like a huge scaly reptile thrashing around in mud that is quickly drying up, his days there are numbered. On 29th April, just one day before the New Moon, Pluto’s forward motion begins to grind into a stationary retrograde position. His journey through Capricorn has been one that has highlighted the necessity for massive changes in the structures that have maintained humanity for centuries. His pain will continue until global consciousness expands a little and everyone realises that change is necessary and inevitable. Then Pluto can move on.
The powerful energy of this New Moon/Solar Eclipse is intensifying and consequently is finalising Pluto’s last moments within this phase of his journey through the Universe in relationship to the Earth. He has broken down many decaying, outmoded structures and will continue to do so in one last thrust of Pluto in Capricorn energy – until he finally moves into Aquarius in 2024 and starts the transformation of another kind of energy! Perhaps we should be grateful to him for his good work!
Affirmation 2:
I trust the flow of transformative energy and spiritual expansion as changes continue to affect me. I allow myself to experience Venusian Love and an influx of Light into my heart. This is a period, within the history of the world, where I can be part of real change. I flow with this opportunity to make a leap forward, fired by the steady energy of the New Moon/Solar eclipse in Taurus! Trust, Transformation and Love! Ho!
